A.Yes, but the pistol cannot be used to take or attempt to take game.
Q. May a CPL holder carry a pistol for protection only, with no intent to hunt, on private land where there are wild animals?

Q. I have a license to carry a concealed pistol. Can I carry the pistol in a moving or non-moving vehicle? Are there any restrictions on carry for various types of roads, e.g. M65, two-track, posted fire roads, ORV trails? Are there any restrictions on the type of ORV on which I can carry? Can I carry on a snowmobile, vessel, or wave runner? The purpose for carrying would be personal protection.
A. A person with a license to carry a concealed pistol and carrying in compliance with the concealed pistol license (CPL/CCW) laws can carry on either a moving or a non-moving vehicle. The law does not distinguish between stationary vehicles and moving vehicles. Likewise, the law makes no distinction between the kind of highway traveled or off-highway use. A licensee may carry regardless of road type or off-road use. Likewise, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) does not make a distinction between the various types of land and water vehicles/vessels. A licensee that can legally carry in or upon a conventional vehicle can also carry on an ORV, snowmobile, vessel, wave runner and/or multipurpose vehicle such as an amphibious craft.
Q. I have a concealed pistol license (CPL). If I am out deer hunting can I carry my loaded pistol in the vehicle while traveling through the woods? Or must it be unloaded?
A. Yes, with a CPL you can carry a loaded pistol in a vehicle, however, you would still be prohibited from hunting from a vehicle.
Q. If I hit a deer with my car or come across someone who has hit a deer and the deer is still alive but obviously hurt bad, can I legally shoot the deer to put it out of its misery?
A. A person cannot be given blanket authority to shoot a deer involved in a car-deer accident. If you hit a deer or happen upon a car-deer accident, you should contact the local police department or State Police or the DNR at 1-800-292-7800 for assistance.
